Cool Coatings: A Paint-On Application that Absorbs The Suns Heat

What are Cool Coatings, and how do they work?

A: Cool Coatings is a three part mix, Cool Coatings technology we supply 1 part dry component and one part A liquid component. The customer mixes 1 part acrylic coloured paint of their choice.

1.1 Cool Coatings is a specialised paint-on application designed to absorb heat from the sun. The system contains unique properties that help reduce the surface temperature of various substrates that are in contact with natural ground or suspended with an air gap.

1.2 Cool Coatings work by absorbing the sun's energy and releasing it slowly into the ground.

What are the benefits of using Cool Coatings?

A: Cool Coatings offer a range of benefits, including:

2.1 Reduced energy consumption: By absorbing heat, Cool Coatings can help lower surface temperatures on pedestrian surfaces.

2.2 Reducing the need for excessive air conditioning and thereby it is possible to lower energy costs.

2.3 Increased comfort: Cooler surfaces contribute to a more comfortable living or working environment, especially in hot climates.

2.4 Extended lifespan of substrates: By minimizing thermal stress, Cool Coatings can help prevent cracks, peeling, and other damage, leading to a longer substrate lifespan.

2.5 Improved sustainability: Cool Coatings assist in reducing the urban heat island effect and lessen the overall demand for energy, making them an eco-friendly choice.

What types of surfaces can Cool Coatings be applied to?

A:3.1 Cool Coatings can be applied to a variety of surfaces, including but not limited to concrete, metal, asphalt, porous tile, paving and timber decking.

3.2 Areas we recommend for application are Stadium forecourt, netball courts, outdoor basket ball courts, alfresco, paths, play area, public open spaces.

3.3 It is suitable for both residential and commercial applications.

How long does a Cool Coating application last?

The longevity of a Cool Coating application depends on various factors such as surface preparation, environmental conditions, and maintenance. We offer a 10 year warranty for the application.

When you say any colour you want?

Cool Coatings requires 4 litres of acrylic coloured paint to be added by the user. We recommend a number of paint types, go to our website for more information. We do not recommended high end paints that have multiple additives and are normally very expensive. The paint is a mid range external grade acrylic that is mixed with Cool Coatings part A. Please note, if you choose a darker colour acrylic paint the cooling effect may be reduced.

How should I prepare the surface before applying Cool Coatings?

Surface preparation is crucial for optimal performance. It generally involves cleaning the surface to remove dirt, debris, and contaminants. Repairing any substrate damage or defects is also recommended. Follow our tutorial on the website for more information.

Can Cool Coatings be applied by anyone, or should I hire a professional contractor?

While Cool Coatings can be applied by homeowners in certain cases, it is often recommended to hire a professional contractor experienced in applying Cool Coatings. They possess the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure proper application and long-lasting results.

Are Cool Coatings safe for the environment and human health?

Yes, Cool Coatings are formulated to be environmentally friendly and safe for human health. They are free from harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are compliant with relevant environmental regulations.

How long does it take for Cool Coatings to dry?

The drying time for Cool Coatings is 45 minutes between coatings at 25 degrees C. second coat can be applied after this time. Full cure is 12 hours. The Cooling effect will normally require 24 – 72 hours as your substrate may hold the suns heat for a long time.

How do I maintain and clean surfaces coated with Cool Coatings?

Surfaces coated with Cool Coatings can be cleaned using mild soaps or detergents and a soft-bristle brush or sponge. Avoid using abrasive cleaning methods as they may damage the coating. Mechanic movements – chairs to automobiles will remove some of the coating. Simply reapply where necessary.
